The owners asked for one thing: to feel the ocean from the moment they wake up. The site sits forty metres above the water, open to wind from the south.
We placed the living pavilion at the very edge and let the bedrooms step back behind a stone wall that takes the afternoon heat. Between them, a long pool catches the sky.
The pavilion screen is reclaimed teak, spaced to let the sea breeze through while cutting the glare. In ten years, the timber will turn silver and look even better than it does today.
